The 21-year-old Austrian soprano Anna Schwaighofer is currently studying vocal performance at the university of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna in the class of Eva-Maria Riedl-Buschan. Prior to this, she completed the preparatory course in vocal performance at the same university (2022–2023).

 

In August 2026 Anna appeared as La jardinierère in André Gretry’s Raoul Barbe-Bleue at Kammeroper Schloss Rheinsberg. In June 2026, she appeared at  MDW as Bastienne in Mozart’s Bastien und Bastienne. In May 2025, she appeared as Papagena in Mozart’s The Magic Flute in a staged orchestral production at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. In 2024, Anna made her debut as the Taumann, Sandmann and Gnom (Hansel and Gretel) at the Schönbrunn Palace Theatre. In December 2023, she sang the role of the First Boy in a concert version of The Magic Flute. 

In October 2026 Anna will appear as Sophie Scholl in Udo Zimmermann’s Weiße Rose at MDW. 

 

Anna won first prize at the Antonín Dvořák Classical Music Competition and second prize at the International Mozart Competition Vienna (2026). She won third prize at the Triomphe de l’Art in Brussels (2025). The young soprano won first prize at the Austrian national competition PrimalaMusica (2022, 2024) and was a finalist in the Klassik2go Award. In 2025, she won the MuFA Mentoring Programme, mentored by Maria Nazarova, an initiative supported by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Arts and Culture.

 

She has attended masterclasses with Thomas Hampson, Melba Ramos (at the RETZ Festival), Chiara Cattani (at the Theater an der Wien), Claudia Visca and Rannveig Braga-Postl.
